CONCERTO MARGARIDA MAGALHÃES SOUSA

The Margarida Magalhães Sousa Contest is a piano competition for young musicians that
culminates in a laureate’s concert on the anniversary of the birth of the Azorean pianist,
from whom the Contest takes its name. In this year’s concert, young pianists João Pedro
Vieira and Luís Martins, accompanied by an orchestra of students and teachers from the
Regional Conservatory of Ponta Delgada, present Mozart's Piano Concerto No.23 in A
major and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, respectively.
